Compliments, Pia, on tying the Jaws anniversary to both the collective and personal memory. It all flows swimmingly. 🏊‍♀️

This was so fun, Pia! Jaws to marine biology to writing to swimming. Thanks for your rundown of Jaws--now I'm certain I don't want to watch it as an adult; it was traumatizing enough at age 5! I was terrified a shark could somehow squeeze through pipes to get into my cousins' pool. It's great that you also promoted shark conservation!

Thanks Heather! You’re not the only one who thought sharks might get through pipes after seeing JAWS 🦈🙀

Fantastic writing as always Pia. I remember opening weekend of Jaws and the fear it struck. I now live on a fresh water Great Lake, so not so many worries about sharks. I really enjoy reading your stories.

Great article, Pia! As I said before, I applaud you from the shore. Thanks for the memories of "Jaws." I remember jumping out of my seat a couple times. Fun!

Pia- love how you enmesh oceanography, your Academy of Science tank cleaning, wild swimming and shark conservation ((love). That movie was a wonder- excellent horror and fear, but it gave sharks a bad rap. Sometimes when I am out in the bay

I learned recently that after “Jaws" came out some people were afraid to enter *swimming pools.* https://arstechnica.com/science/2025/06/a-shark-scientist-reflects-on-jaws-at-50/

Writing on Substack is swimming with the sharks, baby. I have to figure out this thing more. I want to be better about promoting others, but I haven't really understood the platform. And tags?
